OPEN ACCESS SCENE STUDY 3
Open Access Scene Study is a brand new series of classes (which can be taken in any order) from the Howard Fine Acting Studio. They are designed for students who wish to jump straight into exploring the techniques we champion and, unlike our regular Scene Study classes, do not require students to be graduates of any other courses.
For this class students must complete pre-class homework and prepare a contemporary one-minute monologue. The monologues will be used to explore acting and issues of technique for the first two classes. After which, students are assigned a scene partner and play (from our extensive library of modern classics and esteemed works) with which to continue their work. In addition to their work in class, students are expected to rehearse their scenes outside of class each week.
Open Access Scene Study is a growing series of classes that use fundamental acting techniques as a platform to explore and develop the actors' craft, rehearsal process and script analysis. Actors will discover techniques that allow them to consistently live authentically during performance, with a strong connection to the life of their character, their emotional circumstances and the world of the play.
As part of the program, participants attend Howard Fine's Melbourne Master Class on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November. This part of the class (valued at $200) gives actors the opportunity to observe Howard's tuition directly and cement ideas and concepts being explored in class.
This class is applicable to actors of all experience levels. Those new to acting will gain insight and technical ability, whilst seasoned professionals will learn ways to dramatically deepen their work.
This class will be taught by Howard Fine Acting Studio's co-Founder and Director Philip Hayden.

WHAT TO PREPARE
Students must download and read the free studio ebook (this will take about 15 minutes to read) and watch Howard Fine’s Acting Advice Season 1 and 2 (plus the mini-season called Eight Steps Lecture Excerpts) on The Studio's YouTube channel (this will take about 20 minutes).
Please also prepare and learn a short (1 minute) contemporary monologue. You can begin your search at these resources - website 1, website 2. We will use the text to explore notions of technique, primacy, personalisation and attention.
