Open Access Scene Study 1 (daytime)

OPEN ACCESS SCENE STUDY 1

There are three separate Open Access Scene Study programs which can be taken in any order. As a collective, the programs are a fast-paced, hands-on introduction into the award-winning techniques we champion and are suitable for all actors. They are designed for students who wish to jump straight into exploring our techniques and, unlike our regular Scene Study classes, do not require participants to be graduates of any of our other programs.

Open Access Scene Study uses fundamental acting techniques as a platform to explore and develop the actors' craft, rehearsal process, access to their emotional core and script analysis. Actors will discover techniques that allow them to live authentically during performance; with a strong connection to the life of their character, their emotional circumstances and the world of the play.

The course begins with two dedicated technique classes, after which participants are assigned a scene partner and allocated a play (we have an extensive library of modern classics and esteemed works). Participants then workshop their scene each week, further exploring the acting principles that we champion. In addition to their work in class, participants are expected to rehearse their scene weekly and can expect homework assignments.

This class is applicable for actors of all experience levels. Those new to acting will gain insight and technical ability, whilst seasoned professionals will learn ways to dramatically deepen their work. Upon completion of two Open Access Scene Study classes, participants are eligible to enroll in our regular Scene Study programs.

This class will be taught by Howard Fine Acting Studio's co-Founder and Director Philip Hayden.
