Howard Fine Acting Studio Australia (HFASA)

Situated in the vibrant and creative suburb of Brunswick, the Howard Fine Acting Studio Australia was founded after an overwhelming response to two Australian Master Classes led by Howard Fine in June 2011.

In the months following those events, Howard worked closely with the inaugural directors of the Howard Fine Acting Studio Australia to launch the entire HFAS curriculum in Melbourne and the Australian studio began full operation in January 2012. As a provider of yearlong, term-long, Master Class and intensive classes, The Studio has had a significant impact on the performance landscape of Australia and has led the way in providing Australian actors with award-winning, technique-driven training.

Throughout the year the Howard Fine Acting Studio Australia hosts classes led by faculty members based in Australia, Los Angeles, New York and Vancouver - providing Australian actors with ongoing access to world-class training.

OUR AWARD-WINNING CREATIVE DIRECTOR AND FOUNDER

For over a quarter of a century, Howard Fine has built an unshakeable reputation as one of the most gifted acting teachers of his generation. Unique among his contemporaries, Howard is an award-winning acting coach, an award-winning author on acting and is the head of an award-winning acting studio.

He has personally coached many of the world’s most notable, recognisable and decorated actors, including Jennifer Connelly, Will Smith, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pine, and Oscar winner Jared Leto. As the Creative Director of two permanent studios, Howard Fine splits his time between Los Angeles and Melbourne.

The goal of The Howard Fine Acting Studio is to create actors able to operate at the highest levels within the industry. We aim to instil a healthy respect for the craft of acting and a rigorous understanding of technique. It is our belief that training should be technique-led, accessible and demanding. We believe in an ethical approach to actor-training that promotes self-reliance, a safe emotional and psychological approach, and a supportive and open class environment. We aim to empower actors and help them reach their full potential by providing award-winning training that revolves around a core set of acting principles.
