Congratulations on submitting your application for the Howard Fine Acting Studio Australia!

 
 
 

What To Expect

  • After you submit your application, a member of the team will be in touch to discuss next steps/arrange an audition time (check your spam).

  • All auditions are hosted individually (i.e. we do not undertake group auditions) and are hosted online.

  • We anticipate that your audition will last 20-30 minutes.

  • You will be expected to present (and workshop) your audition pieces during the audition and undertake an informal interview.

  • We do not accept pre-recorded auditions.

 

How To Prepare

  • Entry into the 10 Week Essential Program is via application only; auditions are not required for that course. Whereas entry into the Full Time, Part Time or Youth program is strictly via application and audition.

  • You are required to learn two monologues to audition for Full Time and/or Part Time. Both monologues should be from a theatrical play, not film or television. One monologue must be from THIS LIST of monologues, the second monologue can be one of your choosing or it can also be from the list provided.

  • Youth Program applicants only need to prepare one monologue. You are welcome to select your monologue from our collection HERE, however, we encourage you to search for pieces that do not feature in our collection. We also recommend that you have a look at the monologue selection from Humans of New York, as options.

  • It is highly recommended that you read the entire play from which your monologues are taken.

  • In addition to preparing your monologue/s, we strongly advise that you read or refer to Howard’s book ‘Fine on Acting: A Vision of the Craft’, paying particular attention to the chapter on the ‘Eight Steps’.

  • We encourage you to audit one or more of our Scene Study classes (arranged by contacting us), and consider attending a free Open Day & Sample Class prior to auditioning (listed in the What’s On section of the website). We announce free events and opportunities through our Newsletter.

    One-Year Full Time Acting Program


    → Prepare two monologues - both monologues should be from a theatrical play, not film or television

    → One monologue must be from THIS LIST

    → The second monologue can be one of your choosing or it can also be from the list provided.

    → In addition to presenting your monologues, there is also a brief interview component that forms part of the audition process.

    Six-Month Part Time Acting Program


    → Prepare two monologues - both monologues should be from a theatrical play, not film or television

    → One monologue must be from THIS LIST

    → The second monologue can be one of your choosing or it can also be from the list provided.

    10 Week Essential Acting Program


    Participation in the 10 Week Essential Acting Program is by application only.

    There is no audition for this program.

  • Sarah Alexander and Adeline Close onstage during the 2023 Masterclass receiving feedback.

    Professional Youth Acting Program


    → Prepare one monologue (1-3 minutes)

    → You are welcome to select your monologue from our collection HERE, however, we encourage you to search for pieces that do not feature in our collection. We also recommend that you have a look at the monologue selection from Humans of New York, as options.
